TAMU STEM COLLABORATIVE FOR TEACHER PROFESSIONAL LEARNING (STEM COLLABORATIVE)

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)

Aggie STEM and the Education Research Center (ERC) in the College of Education and Human Development and the Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) in the College of Science, together with the Dwight Look College of Engineering, have established the STEM Collaborative for Teacher Professional Learning. In addition to providing high quality STEM professional development for in-service teachers, the STEM Collaborative will conduct a synthesis of research on STEM best practices to inform the professional development component of the project. Findings, from the literature and from practices that evolve as a result of the project, will be communicated to teacher educators, IHE faculty, and administrators.

EVALUATION OF THE MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TEACHER PREPARATION (MSTTP) ACADEMIES

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)

The ERC conducted a program evaluation of the Math, Science and Technology Teacher Preparation (MSTTP) Academies, funded by the THECB. Researchers from the ERC developed rubrics, surveys, and evaluation protocols to collect and examine data related to 19 MSTTP Academies at 15 different universities (e.g., University of Texas, Texas A&M University, University of Texas at El Paso, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, University of Texas at Tyler). The academies were established with the goal of increasing the quantity and quality of mathematics, science, and technology teachers in Texas.
