ERC EdTalks – Dr. Idean Ettekal
Presentation: Examining Classroom Based Interpersonal Relationships with Teachers and Peers and their Associations with Children’s Academic, Behavioral and Cognitive Outcomes: Insights from a Large-Scale Nationally Representative Project on Elementary School Children
Presenter: Dr. Idean Ettekal, Texas A&M University
Dr. Ettekal’s presentation will provide insights from a large-scale, nationally representative project on elementary school children. Dr. Ettekal will present his findings on how classroom-based interpersonal relationships, specifically those with teachers and peers, are associated with children’s subsequent academic, behavioral, and cognitive outcomes.
Dr. Ettekal is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology and Coordinator for the Developmental Sciences programs at Texas A&M. His research focuses on children’s and adolescents’ social and emotional development, specifically examining the impact of their interpersonal relationships in various social contexts, including peer victimization and teacher-student relationship quality.
